Now, leading organizations and companies are reflecting their staff’s changing work experience and are implementing a new working environment; the modern workplace. ## **The state of the modern workplace in 2020** This a concept encompasses all the technologies people use to get work done faster and deliver efficiently on time, and is evolving constantly as new trends and technologies arises. As teams start collaborating and experimenting with tools and solutions, comes the time to identify the trends that are shaping the way work is done in order to respond faster and be prepared for the future. From email, calendars, file sharing and virtual meeting tools, the modern workplace is breaking down barriers of locations and time zones, leveraging efficiency, innovation and growth. ### 3 **Trends that are digitalizing the workplace** Companies are starting to realize the importance of putting as much effort and investment into the employee experience as they are demanding better ways to perform, keep engaged, informed and connected. The adoption of technological solutions like an intranet are leading managers to create emotional stronger bonds, build transparency, trust, and recognition among employees. Additionally, this will also drive to a positive promotion of organizational culture. #### 1. **Mobility** Employees are demanding work tools that allow them an easy and seamless experience of communication anywhere, anytime. Millennials are already the largest segment of workers and according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, they are expected to increase by 75% on 2030. As they start to join the workforce, they’ll demand new ways of performing and delivering. Mobility and working remotely are some of the things that matter the most to the Millennials. They want to be able to work from home, to access effortlessly, easily, and get the right files and documents to collaborate through the ideal platforms or mobiles. With all this comes the realization that Millennials and older generation of employees are willing to have a workplace even if they don’t go to an office. #### 2. SharePoint is the dominant intranet solution Microsoft reports that SharePoint is used by 78% of Fortune 500 companies and has emerged as the leading technology for intranets. SharePoint is basically an intranet and content management system that is used for internal purposes to assist and bring teams together. Is tightly integrated with Office 365 and a handy of document management capabilities. According to the annual survey from DWG, 43% of companies have used an intranet based on Microsoft’s SharePoint. Some of the benefits offered by SharePoint are related to enable communication across multiple teams, encourage collaboration, and the storage of information in one single location, making collaboration easy and faster. #### 3. **Search** Function The underpinnings of a search are often the most important element in determining a user’s satisfaction and efficiency with the site’s search functionality, this is realized in order to help employees save time and avoid frustration. Nowadays, more and more organizations are realizing the importance of offering an intuitive and faster search user experience in the modern workplace. ### **Evolve to a modern workplace concept** Online, seamless, integrated and intuitive collaboration tools play an essential role in the workplace but let’s not forget that these are some of the most important trends to consider when deploying a modern workplace. Keep in mind that employees won’t wait! They will find a way of doing what they need, so this can change if you give them a workplace that includes all the tools and technologies, they need to get their work done.
